LAKESIDE LODGE/FITNESS CENTER ORIENTATIONS
It is required that all new Grand Dominion residents participate in a fitness center/lodge orientation at Lakeside Lodge before utilizing any fitness equipment or participating in any community activities.  Lodge access cards will be issued after the completion of this session.  Residents who have recently closed on their homes should contact Tracy Citrano, the Lifestyle Director, to schedule an orientation session.
Additional fitness room instruction for usage of the cardiovascular machines and the circuit training equipment is available at the monthly “Fitness Center 101” sessions which are free for residents. 

GRAND DOMINION FITNESS

The Grand Dominion Fitness Class Program operates under a Fitness Class Punch Card System that works as follows:
Ø  Cards will be sold at the front desk - $45.00 for 10 classes (or punches)
Ø  Punch cards can be used for any class type and combination with the exception of the S.T.A.B.L.E. Balance Classes.
Ø  Cards are non-transferable and can be used by only one resident. 
Ø  At this time, expiration dates are not applicable.
Ø  Residents without a punch card can attend any class for a $5.00 drop-in fee. 
Ø  No Pre-Registration will be necessary for residents using a punch card or paying the $5 drop-in fee. 
Ø  The Front desk will no longer take any money or handle any registration – Registration will be done by the instructors in each class - they will take attendance, punch the cards and take any money for the drop-in fee of $5.
Ø  Classes will be held regardless of number of participants.  Classes will be held as scheduled unless advance notification has been made or emergency purposes dictate cancellation.

If you’re new to the community or just new to the fitness program – here’s your chance to sample the Grand Dominion Fitness Classes!  You can take a class for FREE!  Just pick up a FREE FITNESS CLASS TICKET from Tracy Citrano, the Lifestyle Director.  You can try any of the current classes one time and we’ll promise you’ll be hooked!

Ø  Participation for future classes must be paid with a fitness class punch card which can be purchased at front desk

Hit the water for this all-around workout – 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of muscle strengthening and 20 minutes of stretching and a cool down.  You’ll be refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to go!

Forever Fit Lakeside Lodge Maple Room
Alternates on Mondays with Step & Strength, 5:15-6:15pm
BEGINNING ON JUNE 4TH, ALL “FOREVER FIT” CLASSES START AT 5:15PM!

The first half of the class consists of an easy to follow, low impact weight bearing aerobics routine.  The second half includes muscular strength training using hand weights and a resistance band, ending with abdominal, stretching and balancing exercises. 

Movin’ EZ – Lakeside Lodge Maple Room

What’s the most fun you can have while improving your strength, posture, balance and flexibility?  Easy!  Movin’ EZ is a whole body workout, designed for all fitness levels.  Utilizing resistance bands, weights, tubing and a chair, you’ll stay challenged and engaged with a variety of invigorating exercises.

S.T.A.B.L.E – Balance Class – Presented by Grayslake Rehabilitation

THIS CLASS IS NOT PART OF THE FITNESS CLASS PUNCH CARD SYSTEM – CLASSES ARE $1 PER CLASS – NO REGISTRATION NECESSARY – PAY INSTRUCTORS DIRECTLY AT CLASS TIME.
STABLE – Strength, Training, And Balance, Leverage, Education – that’s what this class is designed to do for you!  Grayslake Rehabilitation presents a multi-dimensional exercise class designed and taught by a licensed physical therapist with YOU in mind!  This dynamic class involves a combination of STRENGTH training exercises using resistive bands and weights for the arms and legs, combined with many levels of BALANCE training to help you remain on your feet!  The class will vary each week focusing on different aspects of your health from flexibility and posture to strength and balance and what YOU CAN DO TO IMPROVE your health and remain active!

Experience the healing movements of Tai Chi first hand from Allison Deputy, a 20-year veteran of this ancient exercise.  Tai Chi has been medically proven to improve blood pressure, balance, bone density, digestion and immunity.  It is also very effective in reducing pain, anxiety and depression.  Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and flat-soled shoes.  Be ready for a fun, relaxing, and invigorating workout.

Thursdays, 9:00am-12:00pm
Cost is $5.00 per class – Fees collected by instruction at time of class.
Participate in this instructional painting class.  All levels are welcome – find your inner artist!  Cost is $5.00 per person plus materials. This class is taught by one of Grand Dominion’s very own residents, Susan Kronowitz!   No Registration required.



LIFESTYLE ACTIVITIES, EVENTS & DAY TRIPS
Please register and make payments for all activities, trips and events at the Front Desk of Lakeside Lodge IN ADVANCE.  Registration will not be taken without payment.  Advance Registration is very important and the scheduling of activities often depends on a minimum number of participants.  If at all possible, please check your calendars and make every effort to register and pay for all activities to avoid their cancellation.

ACTIVITY & EVENT REFUND POLICY
For all activities, outings and events that require payment, refunds will only be given prior to RSVP date.  After the registration deadline, no money will be returned unless you find a replacement or that spot is filled from an existing waiting list.  This policy is necessary to insure that the Association is not responsible for payments for tickets, catering services, or any other event costs.

Mundelein’s finest – the Mundelein Fire Dept., will be on hand for Free Blood Pressure Checks. This activity takes place the first Tuesday and the first Thursday of every month.  PLEAST NOTE:  IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT MAY HAVE TO ADJUST TIME OR RESCHEDULE DATE.

JUNE MARKET DAY – Lakeside Lodge
Saturday, June 2nd 9:00-10:00am – Please arrive at 8:30am to help with orders.
We know the Lifestyle Program keeps residents super busy at Grand Dominion so why not make your life easier with this great food option!  Market Day is a fundraiser program for the Grand Dominion community, offering over 160 convenient and high quality food products, many of which are individually wrapped and easy to prepare.  Best of all, a percentage of your order will be returned to our community each month to help us raise funds for various Lifestyle activities!  And you can deduct 10% of your orders on your income taxes!  Special thanks to the resident volunteers that help to make this food co-op program a success!  Order sheets for the June sale are available at Lakeside Lodge or you can visit www.marketday.com for more information and to order online.  There are great clearance items available to order online as well!  Start planning your menus today!

The monthly Ladies’ Luncheon RETURNS!  This group will meet the 2nd Friday of each month at 12:00pm at the Gale Street Inn in Mundelein.  You have a choice from: grilled chicken, shrimp and rib combo, orange roughy, pasta primavera or fried jumbo shrimp, which includes a salad, dessert, beverage, tax and gratuity, payable at restaurant. “SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY” – A Choral Concert Presented by the Grand Dominion Singers Lakeside Lodge
Friday, June 29th, 7:00pm – Cost is $5 in advance, $6 at door – TICKET SALE STARTS AT END OF MAY.
Give yourself a gift and take a "Sentimental Journey" down the musical lane as the Grand Dominion Singers present their next concert on Friday, June 29th at 7 pm at the Lakeside Lodge.  The music selections will consist of old favorites from the late 30's, 40's and early 50's.  Hear music like "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", "Irresistible", Hoagie Carmichael favorites, Gershwin, and much more.  Tickets will go on sale towards the end of May for $5 per person in advance or $6 at the door.  The chorus has enjoyed wonderful turnouts for their concerts.  Grab your friends and family and make the time to take in this wonderful evening of old classics. Ticket sales will be announced shortly. And for those desiring to join us, there is still time to get in on the fun for this concert.  Rehearsals will be Thursdays from 6-8 pm on 5/3, 5/10, 5/31, and 6/28 and on Mondays from 7-9 pm on 5/14, 4/21, 6/4, 6/11, 6/18 and 6/25.

Play the ponies at Arlington Park for this community race outing.  Enjoy the exhilarating atmosphere, surroundings, and company of fellow residents for a day at the races.  Bus transportation is not included for this outing – if you are interested in carpooling with other residents, meet at the Lakeside Lodge at 10:30am or make individual arrangements.  Tickets and package information will be distributed before race day. 
THREE TICKETING OPTIONS WILL BE OFFERED FOR THIS OUTING.  
  1. Reserved Box Seat - $9.00 – Includes seat and daily racing guide
  2. Reserved Box Seat & Arlington Combo Lunch - $27.00 per person – Includes reserved box seat, daily racing guide and combo lunch – choice of sandwich, pasta salad, chips, cookie, soft drink, tax & service.  Minimum of 16 people needed for this package option.
  3. International Room Package - $46.00 per person – Includes reserved seating in the International Room – floor-to-ceiling windows, a balcony overlooking the paddock, and numerous betting amenities.  The package includes admission to the park, daily racing guide, seating in the International Room, plus access to outdoor seating to view the races, the Daily Chef’s Table which includes two hours of unlimited access to buffet of antipasto, salads, Tequila lime chicken, vegetables, potatoes, Mac & Cheese table, Brisket Chili, cookies, brownies, and soft drinks, tax and service – served from 12:30-2:30pm.  Minimum of 16 people needed for this package option.

Del Webb and Road Scholar are pleased to announce a newly forged relationship that brings Del Webb homeowners across the country access to a diverse menu of lifelong learning travel programs.  Road Scholar, the not-for-profit world leader in educational travel since 1975, offers 6,500 educational adventures in all 50 states and 150 countries around the world.  As part of the joint relationship, Del Webb homeowners will have opportunity to enroll in a new series of Del Webb exclusive national and international travel excursions at a special savings and/or with incentives.  Additionally, Del Webb homeowners will be eligible to receive a $200 credit toward any other Road Scholar International adventure or a $75 credit toward any North American program.  Del Webb exclusive programs will include a special introductory launch program to Costa Rica in November 2012.   Italy, New Mexico, Canada & US National Parks are planned as destinations in 2013 along with and an intergenerational Broadway experience for Del Webb residents and their grandchildren.

Plans are underway for the publication of the Grand Dominion 2012 Community Directory & Resident Handbook and the Directory committee is looking for photo submissions for the cover!  Photos that represent Grand Dominion can be submitted to Tracy Citrano, tcitrano@wentworthmgt.com or Bill McNulty, bill.mcnulty@ourgranddominion.net.  The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2012.  The winner will be determined by the Directory committee.

Del Webb Live, our private community web portal is of vital importance to the communication flow at Grand Dominion.  The web portal offers a variety of helpful resources for residents to access information, keep up to date and stay connected!  Please be aware that all information and updates about community clubs, activities and events as well as all property management information, will be submitted via the www.ourgranddominion.net website.  All residents have access to this important information tool, wherever they can connect to the internet and are encouraged to log on to the portal on a regular basis.  Please remember to check for daily updates in the Community Calendar, News Pages, Alerts Section and your Personal Email for daily updates and additions.  The portal site can be easily managed through the usage of the blue Navigation bar at the top of the site page.  For the convenience of all residents, you may also use the two resident computers at the Lakeside Lodge.  If you need assistance with your password or any other other portal information, please contact the Lifestyle Director.

CHARTER CLUBS & INTEREST GROUPS
The club system at Grand Dominion nurtures and supports the pursuit of a hobby or the recreational, social or cultural interest of a group.  The Grand Dominion Charter Club Rules & Procedures Manual is available for those interested in starting a new group, subject to the procedures and parameters of the Association.  Club leaders should contact the Lifestyle Director for meeting space and reservations.  All groups are subject to room rental fees for special or after-hours events.

Do YOU need a helping hand?  Maybe Helping Hands can help!                                   
Helping Hands is a group of residents who want to lend their “hands” to other residents within the community who may need assistance of some kind.  This may take the form of:
·         A social phone call or get well wish
·         Help around the home in time of sickness or healing
·         A ride to an appointment, a store, pharmacy, physical therapy on a limited or occasional basis
·         A wellness visit
·         A hospitality visit
·         Card recognition for illness or loss of a loved one
·         Community  information dissemination
·         Local resource materials
·         Web portal training
The group’s purpose and function is based solely on the need for assistance and will maintain the utmost sense of privacy and respect at all times.  The members will rely on requests by residents ONLY and all assistance will be given on a confidential basis unless otherwise requested by a resident.

Do you know who YOUR neighborhood representative is?  Each of Grand Dominion’s 10 neighborhoods has up to 3 resident representatives who act on a volunteer basis to represent their neighborhood with the Board of Directors.  They conduct periodic neighborhood meetings to communicate information to the residents and meet monthly with the Board of Directors to discuss and resolve community issues and business.  All reps can be reached through the portal email system or by the contact information listed in the Resident Directory.  Here are the current representatives:

LAKESIDE LODGE ACCESS CARDS
Residents are required to use their access cards for entry into the Lakeside Lodge during hours of operation.  Please have your access card with you at all times when visiting the lodge.  Access card lanyards are now available for purchase.  Access cards are issued to all residents after completion of a New Resident Orientation session.  A maximum of two access cards are issued for each household.  Additional residents, 19 years or older, who reside in the home for more than 6 months in a calendar year, may purchase an additional card for a fee of $500.00 per year.  Lost card fee replacement is $20.00. 
Access cards are non-transferrable and to be used only by the resident to which it was issued.

GUEST POLICY
Guests may be sponsored by a resident for usage of the facilities in the Lakeside Lodge for a fee of $2.00 per guest, per visit, with a limit of 4 guests per household.  For your convenience, Punch Cards may be purchased for guest visits – 10 visits for $20.00 or 20 visits for $40.00.  Guests aged 19 and over may use the fitness center and pools during all hours of operation while accompanied by the resident.  Guests under 19 years of age may only use the pool areas during the hours of Family/Children Swim. 
Guests must be accompanied by a resident at all times at the Lakeside Lodge facilities.

FAMILY SWIM / CHILDREN POOL HOURS
For Children Under 19 years of age:
Monday-Thursday: 3pm – 5pm
Friday: 4pm-7pm
Saturday & Sunday: 1pm – 4pm
Limit 4 guests per household - $2.00 per guest

ROOM RENTALS AT LAKESIDE LODGE
Celebrate your next event at Grand Dominion!  The Lakeside Lodge Multi-purpose rooms are available for private use rental for Grand Dominion residents. Show your friends and relatives the fantastic facilities at your next party, get-together or meeting.  It’s convenient, affordable and in your own backyard!  The details and rates are outlined in the Facility Use Guidelines, which can be accessed from the web portal in the “Community Documents” section.
