From Erica Horndasch, the Community Manager…

Snow be gone, let me wave my magic wand, so spring may sprung!

It’s been an amazing winter with unpredictable gifts from Mother Nature. I am finalizing a recap of the past blizzard and hope to have this out by February 15th. It will highlight the event details and timelines of each service provider and when they provided snow removal services under the circumstances. In these historic events and a state of emergency, we need to keep calm and stay in our homes and allow the contractors on all levels from State, County, and Village to perform their jobs.

Emergency and rescue missions take away from municipalities doing their jobs and responding to you in a timely manner.

This also rings true for Brickman. Please don’t approach the guys working the equipment. In order for Brickman to work efficiently and effectively to clear 550 driveways in 6 hours, they need for residents to stay clear from the equipment.

Some mailboxes and garage doors were damaged during the last storm. Brickman is working with a garage door company to get those doors damaged repaired and I hope to have a schedule to the 14 residents affected shortly.

If your mailbox is damaged, please report it to me by phone or email.

If you are currently undergoing life threatening medical treatment such as Chemotherapy/Radiation, Dialysis, Hospice, other and need priority snow removal services, you must fill out a priority snow removal request form. These are available in the portal and in the lodge. This form needs to be filled out annually. Currently, we have no residents signed up for this program.

I like all of you are eager for warmer weather….

From Tracy Citrano, the Lifestyle Director…

Well, we survived the blizzard of 2011!

Now it’s time to get back to some serious (and not-so-serious) lifestyle!

March is jam-packed with a variety of fitness, health and wellness, educational seminars and social activities to keep everyone healthy, fit, informed and HAPPY during the last dregs of winter! It’s time to start looking towards spring and warmer days but for now, things in the Grand Dominion Lifestyle Program will keep you busy. Check out some new fitness classes, the return of “Game Night” and our annual St. Patrick’s Party, some interesting presentations, and some club news.

Make sure you are up to date and ready for March!

CLUB REHEARSALS RESUME FOR THE GRAND DOMINION SINGERS!

Monday, March 21st, 7:00pm

A Message from Choral Director, Martha Swan: “Bring a song to your lips and music to your heart and join the Grand Dominion Singers as they resume their rehearsals in preparation for the next concert in June. We've taken a well deserved break but we're all missing the dear friends and fun we have with this mixed choral group. We're going to be performing a lot of Patriotic songs in time for Independence Day. We're going to start our rehearsal schedule with a "Welcoming Reception" at 7 pm on Monday, March 21, 2011, followed by an hour rehearsal. We are all looking forward to have a chance to meet new members and to chat with all the returning members of the group. This is YOUR opportunity to meet and ask questions of the members. Come join the fun! Grand Dominion Singers meet every Monday from 7-9 pm at the Lodge. You needn't know HOW to read music, but just love to sing and have a desire to learn more about music and performing. You certainly don't need to be a "soloist". Good leaders and good followers are ALWAYS welcome. If you have any questions, please call Martha Swan, director, at 847-566-9945. This is YOUR chance to join the fun at the Lodge on Monday, March 21 at 7 pm. Regular rehearsals will resume the following Monday.

RUMMIKUB ADDED TO GRAND DOMINION CLUBS!

A new club has formed at Grand Dominion – Rummikub! The group plays on Monday evenings at 6:30pm in the Sunroom of the Lakeside Lodge. Everyone is welcome!
