Dear Grand Dominion Homeowners,
Del Webb Management would like to address comments that have been circulating regarding PulTrim gutter and trim systems used on certain houses.
PulTrim is a proprietary product that was designed and developed by Bill Pulte and implemented into the construction of homes, beginning in 2005. Nationally, all brands of the PulteGroup have used it in both single and multi-family.
It is an attractive product that provided additional architectural design but also cost substantially more to produce and install than traditional methods of trim and gutters. After a couple years of implementation and ongoing market research it was learned that the majority of home buyers were not willing to pay anything additional for PulTrim. With that information, and the housing downturn, a decision was made to go back to more traditional methods.
Thousands of homes have been built with PulTrim. Of the hundreds built with PulTrim in Grand Dominion there have been a small percentage that have developed hairline cracks in portions of the gutter. Of those, there are even fewer that leaked.
No gutter system drains completely and it is normal to observe standing water in some areas. No gutter system is maintenance free. All gutter systems fill completely with snow and ice in winter conditions. PulTrim, just as with galvanized or aluminum gutters, has a warranty period where repairs are handled by the builder but afterwards become homeowner maintenance. PulTrim, just as with aluminum gutters, uses sealants at all connection points. Leaks in Pultrim, just as with aluminum gutters, are easily controlled with the proper sealants.
Information was posted on the Portal to assist you if you experience a PulTrim leak that needs to be sealed. If you have aluminum gutters that leak after the warranty period you may call your customer service rep for information on contractors you can hire who reseal those as well.
Regards,
Del Webb Management
